Ferns have been around for over 300 million years, and have diversified into thousands of recorded species living in all types of habitats. Ferns do not produce either seeds or flowers. They reproduce by way of spores, normally in groups of four, and, although millions of spores are dropped in a plant’s lifetime, most do not end up producing baby ferns.
